PNW HOMEGROW SHOPRESOURCES

I had arguments on other forums before with people who are convinced roots will die when exposed to light and air. I didn't have my aquarium photos anymore before to show them that roots will grow just fine but in the last while I finally got around to grow some Habanero peppers in and aquarium to show people that roots will grow just fine in light and in air as long as there is enough humidity.

These pepper plants have been in the aquarium for about two months. As you can see the root system is doing pretty good. They are a little off white but thats nothing wrong with it.

Notice how much fine root growh there is inside the mesh pot. This area is not submerged underwater at all but only gets water from the air bubbles once they burst on top of the water.

It certainly is possible,

It certainly is possible, although protecting the water bath from direct UV light aids in preventing plant growth in the water itself. (Ie Algae)
